Medusa: Un Ballet Subaquatique

MEDUSA is an underwater ballet performed entirely on breath-hold, up to five metres deep with no breathing assistance. Created in collaboration with Le Premier Souffle, it had its world premiere on 30 May 2026 at the second Biennale de la Danse in Les Sables-d'Olonne.

Five performers move through a single 25 minute piece, sharing the water with a robotic jellyfish designed and piloted live by a team from Mines Paris. The choreography took place in the Piscine du Remblai and was broadcast live to an audience in the garden of the Palais de Justice, while twenty spectators watched from inside the water in masks and snorkels.

We delivered the complete technical production. That meant designing and programming all sound through QLab, running amplifiers and transducer speakers so the artists had their score underwater, building the multi-camera live feed synced to the music and delivering video and audio to the French broadcast team for large format projection. The entire production was coordinated ninety per cent in French.
